Here's a great source of free information compiled by Cornell University and The University of Michigan (links are at the end)... "Cornell, along with the University of Michigan, house the digital library 'Making of America'- American social history from the antebellum period through reconstruction. The journals include 'Manufacturer and Builder' and 'Scientific American', valuable industrial complements to the Core holdings." Here's just a few of the interesting articles I found on Nikola Tesla. There is plenty of information on any subject that may interest you. There's even some Serbian poetry - as all of you Tesla fans should know, he was Serbian and loved poetry...

Here's another source for all kinds of agricultural info... "The Core Historical Literature of Agriculture (CHLA) is a core electronic collection of agricultural texts published between the early nineteenth century and the middle to late twentieth century. Full-text materials cover agricultural economics, agricultural engineering, animal science, crops and their protection, food science,forestry, human nutrition, rural sociology, and soil science. Scholars have selected the titles in this collection for their historical importance." For instance, here's an entire book I found on how to raise pigs. Just the table of contents are shown here. This could come in very handy when the price of gas is $10 a gallon. At that price, you'll have to grow your own food or starve...
